We previously shared that Stone has been working on some fun writing projects – including songwriting. We’re proud to share his first song “Speech can suck it.”

It still needs official music written for it (he’s thinking of a punk rock kind of sound) so if you have any connections to Green Day or other songwriting resources please let us know. 😏 In the meantime one of our good friends used an amazing AI app to create an abbreviated version of the song that we used to create a video (see below). We think it captures the vibe well.

Heads up – it does include some colorful punk language. 😃

Speech Can Suck It

VERSE ONE

Little johnny at the age of four

Woke up one morning

And couldn’t speak no more

Everyone was in shock

At this poor boys fate

But he was there

Everything was great.

PRE-CHORUS

But then as speech disappeared

The worst thing happened

Exactly what he feared.

CHORUS

These professionals

The teachers too

They don’t know you

They shut you down

And make things up

I’m here to say

Fuck it

Speech can suck it

VERSE TWO

He’s delayed

Not smart at all

They don’t think they can help him

He’s appalled

I’m in here can’t you see

The boy with no speech

He’s still me.

PRE-CHORUS [I dance and i sing

I smile and laugh

The love that i bring

Is full not half.]

And then what? CHORUS

These professionals

The teachers too

They don’t know you

They shut you down

And make things up

I’m here to say

Fuck it

Speech can suck it

BRIDGE [But if you value flapping lips

Over the wordless expressions

I’m afraid you missed

One of life’s most cherished lessons]

VERSE THREE [Where should johnny go to school

Since he cant learn like the others?

The looks he gets make him a fool

In the public school plunder]

PRE-CHORUS: [Even there johnny could tell

This place wasn’t good

It was actually hell.]

CHORUS:

These professionals

The teachers too

They don’t know you

They shut you down

And make things up

I’m here to say

Fuck it

Speech can suck it

Verse 4: [The tests, the meetings

The fill in the blanks

The fakest of greetings

From miss barb in her spanx

The ones that pinch her

Johnny heard her say

In her room that was sure

And filled with kids one day.]

VERSE FIVE [So he screamed and he yelled

He pinched pulled and bit

Til his place no longer held

In the school system shit.]

BRIDGE [Then one day a window opened

A chance to start anew

Twenty-six letters gave him hope and

A beautiful point of view]

LAST VERSE [The words come out

But not like you’d think

Each one deliberate

To make reality sink

Into a new normal where

They’re touched typed or spoken

No one really has to care

That’s the takeaway token.]

CHORUS [These professionals

The teachers too

They don’t know you

They shut you down

And make things up

I’m here to say

Fuck it

Speech can suck it]

  1. Hey! An OT at Rosemary White sent me the link to Stone’s amazing song. My son is nonspeaking and it’s rad for me to see what the future may hold for him, in regards to him sharing his world with us!

I wanted to say that I may have some music friends who would be interested in writing the music to this- would you like me to reach out and see?
